“The Dead Squirrel” is also a podcast episode
A few weeks ago, the new Rituals issue of Zoetic Press Nonbinary Review came out, and it featured my short story “The Dead Squirrel,” about my dog’s first experience with death. That story is also now out in podcast form as part of the magazine’s Alphanumeric podcast. You can listen to it here.
Latest praise for the 2024 (and older) releases
With 2024 drawing to a close, it’s a good time to collect some of the recent praise for my three new books, Animal Husbandry, Civic Minded, and Votes of Confidence. All three are available wherever you buy books. Animal Husbandry is in paperback and ebook with an audiobook on the way. Both civics books are […]

I took part in a panel on careers beyond the Indiana Daily Student newsroom, joined some group networking, and held a series of […]
Secret World event went really well
Last night, Jeremy T. Wilson and I did “A Beastly Reading” at Secret World Books in suburban Highland Park. It was a really fun event and the store has a few extra signed copies if you missed it. I read excerpts from three stories in Animal Husbandry: “Clarksdale,” “Seaweed and Salt,” and “Paying the Piper.” […]
Animal Husbandry signing at Secret World Books
Tonight is the suburban launch of Animal Husbandry at Secret World Books in Highland Park, right next door to my hometown of Deerfield. It’s a joint event with Jeremy Wilson for his enjoyable novel The Quail Who Wears the Shirt. We will both read from our books, do Q&A with the bookstore owner, and take […]
